  25. In the FAQ, it states that Gravis has a good price on the 256->1M
  26. memory upgrade for the GUS.  Can anyone tell me how to contact them
  27. and find out what that price is.  I can't find a phone number for
  28. a sales/upgrade department anywhere.  I can't get through on the
  29. tech line, it always busy.  And as a last ditch effort I faxed in a 
  30. request for the information to the technical support fax.  Still
  31. nothing.  I know Gravis has strange advertising policies but this is
  32. rediculous.

  55. About "Hex Appeal" - Yes, I got it to work by renaming the dblspace.bin
  56. file, and using my demo-autoexec and config.sys - ie. 617k base mem free.
  57. Worked like a charm. But I wonder. As I have all my Ultrasound files on
  58. the compressed drive, and I didn't have access to it while running the
  59. demo, the music worked anyway. Does that mean that you really don't have
  60. to have the software (ie setup files, patches etc etc) to be able to
  61. run programs/demos/games designed to use the GUS (in case they don't use
  62. the patches that is..) ?

  64. The demo was shorter than I'd expected, but it was kinda nice. I also
  65. liked the 'swaying' chessboard at the end credits, and didn't that
  66. rotating cube (we've seen it before, haven't we? :)) rotate a bit
  67. faster than I've seen before? With the animations on the sides and
  68. everything, I was somewhat suprised that it floated as well as it did.
  69. (I have a 386DX-33 by the way, and got that chess-ending of CD2 in
  70. slow motion).

  85. This maybe a localize / singular case, since I didn't hear any talk about
  86. it...
  87. but when I'm loading windows and keep the midi box plug in the gravis card
  88. windows will freeze right before any window folders pop out.  but the
  89. problem dissappears when I disconnect the midi connector then load windows
  90. until finished then plug in the midi connector, everything's fine....

  111. This problem you have, with freezing up for a moment, is not (i think) caused
  112. by megaem, but it is a bug in xwing, because on both my computers it appeared
  113. also, and i just ran it with the normal soundBlaster..

  126. You said it yourself.  When you said you machine freezes up sometimes
  127. using AIL.  AIL is great but it ain't native mode.  Also all you people
  128. out there this is just a sound board not a religion or ideaology.  So take
  129. it easy on the posts see the forest for the trees.

  145. I am strongy considering buying an Ultrasound sound card, but am 
  146. concerned if there is good software support, as well with the
  147. compatibility issues.  I don't plan on having more than one sound card,
  148. and only intend to use the card for games and playing various music/sound
  149. files.  (more/less just a toy) :-)

  162. I don't have a GUS yet nor have I played XWING with it but I know that the
  163. halting problem is due to the game itself. I've played it with Sound Canvas
  164. and the problem was there. I guess that it has something to do with machine
  165. speed but maybe not. If I removed the General MIDI and just had my Sound
  166. Blaster going then everything was OK.
  167. Anyhow, MEGAEM is most likely not the culprit.
